These are the Houser/Romanillos tradition.
Responding well to light or aggressive attack, they feature the balance, ample volume, richness and flexibility of tone that characterizes this type of guitar.
The first guitar I emulated when I began building 20 years ago was the 1973 Jose Romanillos played by Julian Bream for many years. I had heard that guitar live and on recordings many times and wanted to duplicate that voice; the evenness of response; the wide palatte of color and detail available to the player.
The recital model represents my current approach to this very special type of instrument. This is not a copy, although I use the same platilla, but a modern homage to one of the truely famous and sonically recognizable concert guitars of the 20th century.
