Services
We believe that the best way for the customer to save $, and for small businesses (us) to survive is through providing thoughtful, expert and relevant service to our local and extended community.
As to pricing: We can usually match (at least) any legitimate internet price. It is a pervasive, but erroneous assumption that internet shopping = lowest pricing. In the post-oil, post-consumer world it is no longer sufficient for retail outlets to simply deposit a product in your hands. Return of defective merchandise (the only recourse at big box and internet outlets) is expensive and annoying, whether it means driving out to Guitar Center (in our case; taking the ferry and then driving out), or boxing up your purchase and going to the UPS store. None of us are less busy than we were before gasoline prices went through the ceiling.
As to the mine field of e-bay or Craig’s List: I see, almost weekly in the repair shop, the sad results of someone who trusted the accuracy of an on-line auction site product description.
Village Music takes responsibility for the products we sell. Our guaranty of this to you, the customer, is fourfold:
- We shop the trade shows for the best quality, most cost effective and interesting lines to carry. These shows are held in dirigible hanger-size buildings utterly packed with venders offering merchandise. It is part of our commitment to our customers to wade through this stuff every year, and come back with what we think offers real value for $ spent. You will be pleasantly surprised at what we find that the big boxes overlook.
- We set up and test everything that comes into Village Music. This is $50-$100 value added to any instrument that goes out our door.
- We price our merchandise as competitively as we can and still keep a roof over our heads. You will notice that we do not have a shopping cart on this site. The credit card services charge us more for this feature. We can pass the difference on to you by taking your purchase over the phone. And since we actually enjoy talking to customers, you can ask those pesky and/or detailed questions about product quality or specifications that customer service reps are not equipped to deal with.
- We offer a 6-month check-up certificate for all instruments we sell. This includes new strings (on plucked instruments), cleaning, set-up and adjustment.
Repair Shop
Our shop offers complete repair service on all bowed and plucked string instruments, including bow re-hairing.
Lessons
Village Music offers private instruction on guitar, specializing in classical and jazz, renaissance lute, and electric bass.
Rentals
We have a student rental plan for most orchestra and band instruments. Village Music also offers (to Bainbridge Island residents) rent-to-own guitar and guitar/amp packages (please inquire).
